Neurosurgeon Assistant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Neurosurgery team at the University Medical Center of El Paso. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and contributing to the development of effective care plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with responding promptly to neurosurgical consults, admissions, and provider rounds, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
- Enter admission, pre- and post-operative, and consultative orders in a timely fashion, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
- Facilitate preparation of patients for surgery, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
- Assist with surgical procedures after completion of RN First Assistant Certification within the Operating Room, demonstrating expertise and professionalism.
- Facilitate timely communication with family and patients, providing empathetic and compassionate care.
- Work flexible assigned shifts and be on-call, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to patient care.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations, maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
Requirements:
- Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the ED/ICU or other critical care setting required.
- RN First Assistance course and criteria completed or scheduled to be completed within the first year of hire.
- One year experience as Nurse Practitioner in Neurosurgery preferred.
- Current Advanced Nurse Practitioner from the Texas Board of Nursing required.
- Current Advanced Nurse Practitioner Certification from the National Certification Corp. or other body accredited by the Texas Board of Nursing required.
- Current RN license from the state of Texas required.
- Current CPR training required.
- ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of being in the position.
- ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support course) preferred.
- CCRN/CEN preferred.
Education and Training:
Master of Science in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) required.
