Neurosurgeon Assistant

At University Medical Center of El Paso, we are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our Neurosurgery team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our institution.
Responsibilities:- Assist with responding promptly to neurosurgical consults, admissions, and provider rounds, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
- Enter admission, pre and post-operative, and consultative orders in a timely fashion, adhering to institutional and departmental policies.
- Facilitate preparation of patients for surgery, ensuring seamless coordination with the surgical team.
- Assist with surgical procedures after completion of RN First Assistant Certification within the Operating Room, demonstrating expertise and professionalism.
- Facilitate timely communication with family and patients, providing empathetic and compassionate care.
- Work flexible assigned shifts and be on-call, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to patient care.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations, upholding the highest standards of confidentiality and integrity.
- Adhere to institutional and departmental policies and procedures, supporting the CARES values of University Medical Center of El Paso.
- Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the ED/ICU or other critical care setting, with a strong foundation in neurosurgical patient care.
- RN First Assistance course and criteria completed or scheduled to be completed within the first year of hire, demonstrating a commitment to professional development.
- One year experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Neurosurgery, with a proven track record of success in this specialty.
- Current Advanced Nurse Practitioner certification from the Texas Board of Nursing, with a strong understanding of neurosurgical patient care.
- Current RN license from the state of Texas, with a commitment to ongoing education and professional growth.
- Current CPR training, with a focus on maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
- ACLS certification within six months of hire, demonstrating a commitment to advanced life support skills.
- ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support course) certification, with a strong understanding of trauma care principles.
- Master of Science in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) degree, with a focus on neurosurgical patient care and management.
