Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Wildlife Management Specialist. As a key member of our conservation team, you will be responsible for assisting in the management of wetlands, including inspecting habitats, applying pesticides, and maintaining equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in inspecting wetlands for mosquitoes and invasive plants
  • Apply pesticides as needed to control mosquito populations
  • Maintain and repair equipment, including vehicles and field gear
  • Perform basic clerical duties, including data entry and record-keeping
  • Drive vehicles rated at 3/4 Ton Gross Vehicle Weight or less
  • Tow small trailers, including boats and landscape equipment
Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid driver's license
  • Will be required to obtain a Connecticut Pesticide Junior Operator's license (training and exam provided without cost)
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • Preferred qualifications include possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and experience in the use and maintenance of machinery and power equipment
Working Conditions

Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain adequate physical strength and stamina to perform the duties of the class. Work may be performed in a variety of settings, including wetlands, forests, and other outdoor environments.
