Job Title: Winter Snowsports Group Leader

At National Winter Activity Center Inc., we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Winter Snowsports Group Leader to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for guiding groups of children in a fun and engaging lesson format, while promoting safety and providing students with guidelines for safe skiing and riding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide groups of children in a fun and engaging lesson format.
  • Mentor participants on the Core Values, Alpine Responsibility Code, and opportunity for life-long participation.
  • Greet, supervise, lead, and mentor children in all aspects of outdoor winter activities, including proper outfitting of clothing and equipment, safe and competent skiing/riding, healthy eating habits, and civic responsibilities.
  • Assist in teaching proper technique appropriate to the participants' ability level.
  • Promote safety and provide students with guidelines for safe skiing/riding.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to do one of the 3 disciplines ski, ride, or nordic safely and confidently in all snow conditions, on varying moderate types of terrain.
  • Experience working with teams, effectively communicating expectations and facilitating their activities.
  • Must pass background check, complete on-snow training, and Safesport child safety training.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to push, lift, or pull up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to observe staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate management techniques.
  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
  • Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist participants in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
