About the Role:As a Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care and coordinating the overall delivery of care for a specific shift on the unit. You will also act as a role model and resource for staff members, ensuring the completion of safe and comprehensive patient care and optimum patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct accurate and timely nursing assessments in accordance with practice standards.
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care that reflect the needs and goals of patients.
- Provide high-quality nursing care, evaluating and modifying care as needed to achieve patient goals.
- Ensure accurate and complete documentation in accordance with department policies and procedures.
- Administer medications safely and in accordance with professional standards of practice and nursing policies and procedures.
- Coordinate care with other healthcare team members to facilitate achievement of patient goals.
- Assess and provide education to patients and families related to disease processes, underlying disabilities, medications, and preparation for discharge.
- Provide mentoring and teaching to healthcare team members regarding nursing rehabilitation practices.
- Participate in team conferences and meetings to achieve stated goals.
- Make patient assignments to meet patient care needs, continuity, and availability of resources.
- Assist nursing staff with communication issues and provide open communication to the Nurse Manager on major issues, adverse events, risk management, and/or deteriorating patient condition.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate is required.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year clinical experience, post-grad.
- Licensure: Current licensure from the Massachusetts Board of Registration to practice professional nursing.
