Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team at Ywca Of Schenectady. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing various account payable transactions, supporting our finance team, and contributing to best accounting practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable transactions, including vendor invoices, account management, and statement reconciliation.
  • Run and balance weekly payables, meeting payment deadlines and striving for continuous improvement in payment processes.
  • Prepare bank deposits, post cash receipts, and ensure accurate recording of transactions.
  • Report discrepancies to the CFO and assist with General Ledger inquiries, month-end close, and audit preparations.
  • Provide efficient vendor and customer service, facilitating communication and fostering productive relationships.
  • Support the finance team with special projects, training, and staff meetings.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in accounting or a similar AP-related role.
  • Profound understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with calculating and managing financial reports.
  • Strong time-management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with data entry, spreadsheets, and accounting software, preferably Blackbaud.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift to 15 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, sitting, and computer usage.
  • Occasional driving for work-related errands.
Other Requirements
  • Completion of background check and NYS Traffic Abstract.
  • Use of own vehicle during work hours.
