Job Title: Accounting Specialist

Reports to: Vice President of Accounting

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary Grade: NE14

Supervisory Responsibility: No

SUMMARY

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for providing accounting support to accounting supervisors and other management within the department. Key daily tasks include maintaining the general ledger system, ensuring files are complete and up-to-date, handling accounts payable duties, and assisting accounting personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform daily reconciliations of bank and general ledger accounts, researching and resolving outstanding items in a timely manner.
  • Review daily teller statement reports, researching any issues and assisting branch personnel in resolving outstanding issues and differences in a timely manner.
  • Track and analyze non-performing loans on a monthly basis, providing management with detailed monthly reporting for each non-performing loan.
  • Provide internal customer support to branches and all other departments of the bank, answering questions and working to respond to information requests. Assist with filing and photocopying to help maintain accurate, complete, and organized records within the Accounting department.
  • Special projects as assigned.
Required Education/Experience

• Associates degree in Accounting

• Effective verbal and written communication skills

• Well organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work to time-sensitive deadlines

• Ability to work well independently and in groups

• Working knowledge with Microsoft Office Programs; Excel and Word

Preferred Education/Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting

Position Type/Expected Hours

This is a full-time position. Office hours Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Language Skills

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace; bilingual skills a plus. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, including but not limited to company policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
