Role Summary

The Licensed Midwifery Practitioner is responsible for overseeing women's health services, with a primary focus on pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, newborn care, and the gynecological and family planning needs of women.

Key Responsibilities

1. Deliver comprehensive prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, well-woman, and initial newborn care services.
2. Engage in direct consultations, collaborative management, and referrals based on client health assessments.
3. Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
4. Maintain privileges at affiliated hospitals and engage in departmental activities and continuing education.
5. Adhere to established organizational policies, procedures, and safety standards.
6. Be available for on-call duties, which may include 12 or 24-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
7. Contribute to the education of midwifery, medical, and nursing students, as well as clinical staff and peers.
8. Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

- Current Registered Nurse licensure.
- Active APRN, CNM licensure.
- Certification in midwifery from the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
- Current DEA registration.
- Completion of an accredited midwifery education program.
- Valid CPR certification.
- Proof of COVID vaccination required, with exemptions considered.

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's or Doctorate in Nursing.
- Bilingual candidates, particularly in Spanish or Hmong, are preferred.

- Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements.
- Understanding of midwifery principles and practices.
- Proficient in patient assessment and triage.
- Capable of developing and delivering educational programs.
