UPMC Passavant, recognized with ANCC Magnet designation, is seeking a Professional Staff Nurse to join our Rehabilitation Unit at the McCandless facility.

This role offers a competitive sign-on bonus:

  • Experienced Nurses (1+ years): $20,000 Sign-On Bonus
  • New Graduate Nurses: $15,000 Sign-On Bonus

Unit Overview:

The UPMC Passavant Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility is a 24-bed unit within an acute care hospital, providing comprehensive rehabilitation services as part of an intensive rehabilitation program. Patients admitted to this unit require a minimum of 3 hours of intensive rehabilitation services daily. Our rehabilitation services encompass care from specialists in physical medicine, rehabilitation nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and more. We cater to a diverse range of conditions, including strokes and neurological disorders.

The vision of our Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit is to be the preferred choice for quality rehabilitation care in our community, with our interdisciplinary team recognized as leaders in rehabilitation services.

Mission:

Our mission is to assist patients with altered functional abilities in achieving their rehabilitation goals and maximizing their functional independence by providing individualized, effective care.

Our staff operates as a cohesive team, delivering transformative care to patients. The extended duration of patient stays allows staff to forge meaningful relationships, fostering a culture of teamwork, positivity, and encouragement. Collaboration with physicians and therapy teams is essential in providing comprehensive care and helping patients reach their objectives. While the role can be physically demanding, the fulfillment derived from patient progress is a significant motivator for our nursing staff.

Role of the Professional Staff Nurse:

The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and integral member of the care delivery team, responsible for establishing standards for care quality. This role encompasses leadership, collaboration, and supervision, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective communication and teamwork.

  • Incorporate best practices to enhance patient safety and satisfaction.
  • Provide comprehensive education to patients and families throughout their care journey.
  • Support the development of new staff and students, serving as a mentor.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives within the unit.
  • Demonstrate accountability for professional development and practice improvement.

The ideal candidate will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate understanding of growth and development principles. The Professional Staff Nurse must also hold current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Nurse and maintain CPR certification.
