Server Repair Technician Job Description

About the Role:

We're seeking a skilled Server Repair Technician to join our team at recruitAbility. As a key member of our data center operations team, you'll be responsible for diagnosing and repairing server hardware and software issues to ensure seamless performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair server hardware and software issues to ensure seamless performance.
  • Collaborate with partners to understand their unique build needs and deliver flawless servers.
  • Test and verify each server's functionality before deployment, ensuring top-quality results.
  • Document the repair process, modifications, and results for reference.
  • Travel to client sites to troubleshoot and resolve server issues post-deployment.
  • Provide both on-site and remote technical support, ensuring minimal downtime for customers.
  • Handle on-call duties for urgent repair needs, which may include travel to customer sites.
  • Stay updated on the latest server technologies to continuously improve service quality.

Requirements:

  • Expertise in server hardware (motherboards, processors, memory, storage) and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in operating systems like Windows Server and Linux.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks independently.
  • Exceptional communication skills for collaborating with both partners and customers.
  • Flexibility for shifts, overtime, and on-call duties, including travel.
  • Ability to lift and handle equipment over 50 lbs.

Preferred Experience & Certifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in server repair, with a focus on customized builds.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or related field (preferred).
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Windows Server Specialist, or Red Hat Certified System Administrator.
  • Manufacturer-specific certifications (EMC, Dell, Cisco, etc.) are a plus.
  • A+ certification is also a bonus.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles is highly valued.
