Ophthalmic Technician

As an Ophthalmic Technician at Advocate Aurora Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our team of ophthalmologists. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing exam rooms, ordering supplies, and assisting with diagnostic tests and procedures. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate patient records and communicating effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepares exam rooms and work areas for patient exams, including cleaning, stocking, and ordering supplies
• Assists with diagnostic tests and procedures, such as visual field testing and tonometry
• Maintains accurate patient records and communicates effectively with patients and healthcare professionals
• Orders and stocks supplies, including medical equipment and consumables
• Assists with scheduling patients for post-operative care and specialist appointments
Requirements
• High school graduate or equivalent required
• 2 years of experience in a related field, such as optometric assisting or ophthalmic technology
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 6 months of hire
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
