We are seeking a highly skilled Labor Rights and Membership Coordinator to join our team. This role plays a crucial part in planning, directing, and coordinating UFW membership growth. The successful candidate will assist in managing and directing worker activities during the collective bargaining process.

About the Role:

As a Labor Rights and Membership Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to grow and maintain UFW membership. You will work closely with the Organizer Coordinator & Regional Manager to develop operational plans and participate in Management Oversight Review meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement strategies to grow and maintain UFW membership.
  2. Collaborate with the Organizer Coordinator & Regional Manager to develop operational plans that align with the organization's needs, as well as political and union organizing objectives.
  3. Participate in Management Oversight Review meetings to learn and contribute.
  4. Maintain a comprehensive database in assigned companies.
  5. Establish and maintain a functional and complete worker structure.
  6. Develop and train volunteers to participate in union activities.
  7. Implement programs aimed at attracting worker participation.
  8. Train worker leadership to effectively conduct their meetings.
  9. Identify and leverage workers' issues, utilizing state and federal agencies when necessary.
  10. Assist in building majority support in assigned companies.
  11. Conduct NLRB/ALRB elections and card check recognition.

Requirements:

  • Ability to learn how to use the Management Oversight Review planning process and use effective training methods for both members and workers.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with the history and mission of the United Farm Workers of America.
  • Willingness to make a long-term commitment.

Salary:

Estimated salary $55,000 - $65,000 per year.
