Position Overview
This role is focused on delivering exceptional patient care in critical care environments, step-down units, general medical areas, and during critical care transport.
Key Responsibilities
Educational Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED is required.
Licensure and Certification: Candidates must hold a valid license from the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy and be registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred during the onboarding process, which should be completed within 90 days of employment or transfer. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are also preferred.
Professional Experience: Clinical experience acquired during the Respiratory Therapy program is essential. Additional experience in intubation and competencies related to critical care transport is highly valued.
Essential Skills and Abilities: Candidates must possess outstanding communication skills and the capability to thrive in a dynamic environment that requires frequent task prioritization and rapid adaptation. Proficiency in performing and recommending procedures related to bronchial hygiene, oxygen therapy, respiratory diagnostics, and various levels of mechanical ventilation is necessary. The ability to operate effectively in critical situations, including the initiation and management of mechanical ventilation, is crucial.
