The Procurement Specialist will play a crucial role in strategic sourcing and will assist in enhancing operational support under the guidance of the Procurement Manager. This position requires a proactive, hands-on individual capable of prioritizing multiple projects effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritize tasks based on directives while adhering to established timelines.
- Communicate potential solutions and business challenges to management.
- Collaborate with suppliers and relevant departments to address procurement-related issues.
- Become familiar with and utilize the database of preferred suppliers, their capabilities, and industry trends.
- Assist in developing sourcing strategies aimed at cost reduction and process enhancement within the department and across the organization.
- Work with other departments to identify and maintain necessary resources for an effective supply chain.
- Evaluate current procedures and propose improvements to enhance procurement efficiency and profitability.
- Support management initiatives to boost efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; communicate enhancement ideas for existing processes.
- Learn and execute pricing negotiations for purchased items and deliveries with suppliers and vendors.
- Identify inefficiencies in procurement processes and recommend solutions to address these challenges.
- Perform procurement tasks such as requesting quotes, reviewing pricing, generating purchase orders, and finalizing deliveries.
- Achieve savings through volume, recurring, and pre-negotiated agreements.
- Coordinate with staff and suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products and services.
- Assist with site locations to ensure suppliers meet their obligations.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
- Familiarity with Smartsheet is advantageous.
- Knowledge of UKG is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail is essential.
- Strategic and analytical thinking skills.
- Solid understanding of Accounts Payable principles and practices.
- Exceptional time management skills, particularly for remote work.
- Strong communication abilities.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends as required.
- An associate degree in business or a related field is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred. An additional 2 years of experience may substitute for the associate degree.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Vendor Relations, Procurement, or a combination of both is required.
- Experience in vendor relations and procurement; a dynamic, cross-functional operative.
- Experience working with teams and customer relations; committed to continuous self-improvement.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
- Ability to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS).
- Must pass a drug test, motor vehicle record check, and background check after accepting a conditional offer of employment.
