The Strategic Buyer is accountable for the Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Risk Management of suppliers and categories within their scope. The chosen candidate will be responsible for continuously securing supplier QDC performance by leveraging their cross-functional network to achieve business goals and mitigate risk to our business.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Drive annual cost improvement goals through effective supplier management.
- Ensure accurate and timely quotation management to meet business requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to achieve business objectives.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and market prices to inform purchasing strategies.
- Develop, gain approval, and execute purchasing strategies for assigned commodities and suppliers.
- Maintain the SAP system, RFQ issue, and Quote review requirements.
- Analyze cost calculations and cost drivers to evaluate, develop, and deliver cost reduction strategies.
- Negotiate pricing with suppliers and process quotations to achieve business results.
- Establish logical new model cost targets and achieve cost targets through effective supplier selection and negotiation.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to achieve bottom-line results.
- Assess the financial viability and risk of suppliers to ensure business continuity.
- Attend trade shows, product exhibitions, and conferences to maintain current understanding of new products and trends.
- Analyze drawings to inform purchasing decisions.
- Execute accurate and timely supplier evaluation and selection.
- Develop and present clear and concise proposals to stakeholders.
- Maintain knowledge of specific commodity's parts/suppliers and industry trends.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Efficient typing skills with an emphasis on accuracy and legal aspects of purchasing.
- Ability to compile information and make decisions.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to negotiate based on logic.
- Ability to manage cost.
- Ability to manage customer/supplier relationships.
- Prior experience in aerospace or other disruptive manufacturing industries.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience with AS9100, US export controls.
- Comfortable working in a team environment.
- Proactive and self-motivated contributor.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor's degree required, with preference on Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Economic-related discipline.
- 3 years Purchasing, Materials, Sales, Quality, or Engineering experience or 2 years Honda Purchasing, Materials, Quality, or Engineering experience (in both cases, Purch. experience is preferred).
