Strategic Project Procurement Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Project Buyer to join our team at Apex Systems. As a Strategic Project Buyer, you will be responsible for managing supplier sourcing activities from project phase to operations, ensuring that supplier selection is in line with expectations (QCDFTSR).

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical requirements with support from Engineering
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of Radiator and Battery Thermal management systems with various Raw Material content
  • Manage supplier sourcing activities, including RFI, RFQs, and supplier selection
  • Develop sourcing plans and award suppliers for various projects with cross-functional time plans
  • Analyze supplier proposals and bids, focusing on assembly line layout, standard work processes, and labor content
  • Understand cost breakdowns and their impact on pricing
  • Monitor supplier manufacturing plans and identify potential risks
  • Ensure suppliers and their labor forces are prepared for production
  • Negotiate contracts to secure risks and ensure cost-effectiveness
  • Manage project-related supplier relations, including meetings, documents, and feedback
  • Contribute to cross-functional teams for segment strategy development and product roadmap
  • Negotiate with suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining flat costs
  • Work with PMPs and Build Teams to ensure timely availability of Prototype Parts, C Parts, and P Parts
  • Ensure active contributions to the PPAP process
Requirements
  • 10+ years of strategic purchasing experience in the automotive or similar heavy manufacturing industry
  • Developed project management skills, positive attitude, strong business acumen, and agile working style
  • Desire to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field (an advantage)
