Position Overview:

As an Oncology Registered Nurse, you will play a crucial role in delivering specialized nursing care to patients within the Renal Oncology unit. This unit caters to a diverse patient demographic, focusing on both Renal Medical and Medical Oncology.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments in alignment with established healthcare protocols.
  • Implement and oversee patient care plans, ensuring effective monitoring and communication of patient conditions.
  • Act as the primary coordinator among various healthcare disciplines to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Document and execute physician and nursing orders accurately.
  • Evaluate and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
  • Monitor patients for potential side effects and manage any allergic reactions to medications.
  • Expertly handle cytotoxic agents and troubleshoot related technologies.
  • Draw blood samples and proficiently use various catheter types and programmable pumps.

Qualifications:

Licensure / Certification:
Must possess certification in Chemotherapy from the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) within 30 days of hire. Registered Nurse credentials from the Tennessee Board of Nursing are required prior to employment.

Education:
A diploma from an accredited nursing school or equivalent professional licensure is mandatory at the time of hire.

Preferred Experience:
Experience in Hematology/Oncology and chemotherapy is highly desirable. Recent RN experience within the last year is also preferred.
