Position Summary:
The Maintenance and Facilities Specialist is a multifaceted role essential to our operations. The primary focus is on maintaining the property and addressing maintenance requests, while also requiring strong communication and organizational skills. The role involves working in various environments, including outdoor spaces, warehouses, and greenhouses. Candidates should possess mechanical skills and be comfortable using power tools and equipment. A thorough inspection of the property is expected at the end of each shift.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the grounds by mowing, trimming, and clearing debris from parking areas.
- Ensure the property is tidy and free from litter.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance tasks both inside and outside the facilities.
- Safely navigate ladders and perform building maintenance tasks.
- Exhibit strong organizational skills and maintain proactive communication with relevant personnel.
- Execute preventative maintenance on manufacturing and plant equipment.
- Take initiative in problem-solving and making recommendations.
- Possess a fundamental understanding of plant systems and equipment to provide technical support as needed.
- Engage in various maintenance trades, including plumbing, machinery repair, and electrical work.
- Carry out inspections to identify necessary repairs and maintenance to prevent equipment breakdowns.
- Collaborate effectively within a team to achieve common goals.
- Assist with cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and floor maintenance.
- Manage snow removal and apply salt as required.
- Interface with vendors and external contractors as necessary.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by management.
Required Skills and Attributes:
- Safety-conscious mindset and participation in monthly preventative maintenance.
- Consistent use of personal protective equipment as mandated by safety protocols.
- Attendance at all required training sessions.
- Meticulous attention to detail for accurate recordkeeping.
- Mechanical aptitude for maintaining and repairing onsite equipment.
- Strong communication and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in computer usage and adaptability to new software.
- Physical capabilities include bending, standing, walking, and climbing.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment:
This role encompasses both office duties and manual labor, requiring adaptability and a keen eye for detail. The position operates within a manufacturing setting, necessitating the daily use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, gloves, and goggles. Professional attire is expected when outside the manufacturing area.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Full vaccination against Covid-19 is required.
- Valid New York State Driver's License.
- Forklift Certification is preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in facility maintenance and mechanical roles.
- Specialized training in building maintenance is advantageous.
