Position Overview

The Healthcare Access Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring seamless administrative support within our healthcare facility. This position involves managing the clinic appointment line, which includes scheduling visits for patients referred from various medical, hospital, and correctional systems. The coordinator will handle multiline phone systems, process payments for clinical services, and oversee patient registration and documentation. Additionally, the role includes arranging interpreter services for patients and retrieving billing information as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage appointment scheduling for incoming patients.
  • Answer and direct calls on a multiline telephone system.
  • Process payments and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Complete necessary patient registration and documentation.
  • Schedule interpreters to assist patients as required.
  • Retrieve and manage billing charges efficiently.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or a high school diploma (or equivalent GED) accompanied by two years of relevant experience in a medical office, call center, or customer service environment is required.

Skills: The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in computer applications, including Windows and Excel, as well as familiarity with internet navigation, is essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with problem-solving and presentation abilities, are necessary. A typing speed of at least 25 words per minute is required, and candidates must present a certified typing test during the interview process.

Work Environment: This position may require flexibility in scheduling, including the possibility of weekend and staggered shifts.
