Social Skills Instructor

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Social Skills Instructor to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in creating a supportive and engaging environment where students can develop essential social skills and build meaningful friendships.

Responsibilities:
  • Cultivate a positive and nurturing classroom atmosphere that fosters student learning, self-expression, and safety.
  • Implement structured social skills lessons provided by Social Motion, guiding students in group interactions and skill development.
  • Utilize evidence-based behavioral strategies such as prompting, modeling, and video modeling to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Behavior Skills Training model and its integration within the curriculum.
  • Provide individualized coaching and support to students during facilitated game time, encouraging positive social interactions.
  • Effectively manage student behavior in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.
  • Maintain clear and concise communication with parents through weekly Class Communication Forms, providing updates on student progress.
  • Accurately record student attendance and promptly communicate any concerns to the Education Director.
  • Be prepared to supervise students during emergency situations, adhering to established safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Education Director and parents to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of monthly student outings at various community venues, fostering social interaction and engagement.
  • Communicate relevant information regarding class outings and events to parents.
  • Facilitate meaningful social interactions among students during outings, promoting a sense of belonging and inclusion.
  • Capture photos and videos of classroom activities in accordance with Social Motion guidelines.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to teacher assistants, interns, and volunteers who work with students.
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in education, psychology, human development, or a related field (highly preferred).
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate (special education preferred) or specialized certification such as BCBA, LSSP, or LCSW.
  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience (Special education preferred) or counseling experience (strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applied behavior analysis and other evidence-based practices for individuals on the Autism spectrum.
  • Commitment to upholding a high level of professional and ethical standards.
