About the Job

Swinerton Incorporated is seeking a skilled Drywall Framer and Installer to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for installing and finishing drywall to ensure a smooth and professional finish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and Finishing: Install drywall on walls and ceilings, cutting to fit and ensuring a smooth finish.
  • Patching and Repair: Patch drywall to remove any seams and fill gaps, ensuring a seamless finish.
  • Support Activities: Support activities at all Swinerton job-sites as directed, including reading blueprints and other specifications to determine method of installation, work procedures, and material and tool requirements.
  • Trimming and Finishing: Trim rough edges from wall to maintain even joints, fit and fasten wallboard or sheetrock into specified position.
  • Measuring and Marking: Measure and mark cutting lines on framing, drywall, and trim, ensuring accurate installation.
  • Assembly and Installation: Assemble and install metal framing and decorative trim for windows, doorways, and vents.
  • Blueprint Reading: Read blueprints and other specifications to determine method of installation, work procedures, material and tool requirements.
  • Layout and Marking: Lay out reference lines and points, computes position of framing, and marks position, using chalk line.
  • Suspension and Installation: Suspend angle iron grid and channel iron from ceiling.
  • Stud Installation: Install horizontal and vertical metal or wooden studs for attachment of wallboard on interior walls, using hand tools.
  • Cutting and Fabrication: Cut metal or wood framing, angle and channel iron, and trim to size, using cutting tools.
  • Inspection and Layout: Inspect furring's, mechanical mountings, and masonry surface for plumbness and level, using spirit or water level.
  • Wall Layout: Layout walls from gridlines.
  • Box Header Fabrication: Fabricate box headers and king stud assemblies.
  • Framing and Attachment: Attach framing to floor using powder actuated fasteners or screws.
  • Window and Door Framing: Frame window and door opening systems.
  • Box Header Installation: Build and install box headers.
  • Opening Framing: Frame for openings for mechanical and other openings in accordance with structural drawings.
  • Leveling and Plumbness: Ensure walls are level and plumb.
  • Door Jamb Installation: Install door jambs in framing as required.
  • Block-Out Installation: Frame block-outs for doors, windows, and other openings.
  • Access Panel Installation: Install access panels in framing, black iron ceiling systems, grid ceiling systems, drywall, sheathing, or cement board in accordance with specifications or local building codes.
  • Flashing and Caulking: Install flashing at windows and doors and sound and fire caulking as required.
  • Supervision: May supervise small crews.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • Skills and Experience: Ability to learn new skills with attention to detail.
  • Lifting and Physical Demands: Lift and/or pull 75lbs., climb ladders, work off ladders, man lifts, or other equipment.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to maintain a standing position for extended periods of time, fully squat, bend, or kneel while wearing a tool belt.
  • Knowledge and Understanding: Must have knowledge of fire-rated assemblies and local building codes.
  • Fall Protection and Safety: Understand fall protection systems and working from heights.
  • Weather Conditions: Capable of working in a variety of weather conditions.
