Miller Environmental Group is seeking a highly skilled Hazardous Materials Technician to join our team. As a key member of our environmental response and remediation team, you will be responsible for the cleaning and decontamination of regulated materials from various industrial sources.
Key Responsibilities:- Identify, remove, pack, transport, or dispose of hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead-based paint, waste oil, fuel, transmission fluid, radioactive materials, or contaminated soil.
- Operate specialized equipment to remove, package, store, or transport loads of waste materials.
- Load or unload materials into containers or onto trucks, using hoists or forklifts.
- Record numbers of containers stored at disposal sites, specifying amounts or types of equipment or waste disposed.
- Clean contaminated equipment or areas for re-use, using detergents or solvents, sandblasters, filter pumps, or steam cleaners.
- Create containment areas prior to beginning abatement or decontamination work.
- Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
- Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
- Maintain logs (DTR/ DDL) and immediately report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
- Valid unrestricted license (CDL- A or B a plus)
- Clean driver's license with a clean driving record to meet company standards
- The ability to work weekends and extended hours as needed, and the ability to travel and work at remote sites as needed
- Basic math, mechanical, teamwork and troubleshooting skills are required
- Must pass DOT hazmat physical (if applicable), drug and alcohol screening, and detailed background check
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year experience in the field or similar position
- Successful completion of safety, mechanical, hazmat, equipment and/or equivalent training
