In this role, you will collaborate closely with classroom educators to provide essential support and assistance to students, particularly those with unique learning requirements or disabilities. This position presents a fulfilling opportunity to positively influence the lives of students and aid in their academic and personal development. A background check as per state and federal regulations is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the classroom educator in executing lesson plans and educational activities.
  • Provide individualized or small group support to students, including those with tailored education plans (TEPs) or special needs.
  • Support students with their assignments, projects, and activities, ensuring comprehension and engagement.
  • Encourage a welcoming and inclusive classroom atmosphere that fosters learning and student achievement.
  • Monitor student progress and behavior, recording observations as necessary.
  • Work in partnership with teachers, administrators, and other support personnel to create and implement strategies for student success.
  • Assist with classroom organization and management, including maintaining educational materials and resources.
  • Offer support during transitions, lunch periods, recess, and other non-instructional times as required.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in working with children or adolescents in an educational environment is preferred.
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn about special education principles and practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with students, educators, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a sincere desire to assist students in achieving success.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and respond to changing priorities.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology tools are preferred.
