Cafeteria Assistant Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Cafeteria Assistant to join our team at Muhlenberg School District. The successful candidate will assist the head cook and building administrators in maintaining a safe and organized cafeteria environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and assist students in the cafeteria, ensuring a positive and respectful atmosphere.
  • Monitor behavior and assist with correcting misbehavior of students in the cafeteria.
  • Call for assistance in emergency situations and report any imminent dangers to the head cook and building administrator.
  • Clean tables, dishes, and tray return areas, and replenish condiments as needed.
  • Assist with cleaning up minor spills and wiping down walls adjacent to trash receptacles.
  • Model appropriate lunchtime behavior for students and assist with maintaining a clean and organized cafeteria.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the head cook or building administrators.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • Previous experience with students preferred
  • Submission of pre-employment medical examination
  • Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police
  • Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare
  • Submission of the FBI Criminal History Record
  • Submission of sexual misconduct/abuse disclosure release form
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to reach above and below the waist
  • Ability to use fingers to pick, feel, and grasp objects
  • Ability to use both hands for repetitive motion
  • Considerable bending and twisting of the body required
  • Some stooping and squatting required
  • Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 40 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of the workday
