Job Summary:

This is a part-time welding position at Ditch Witch, a leading manufacturer of underground construction equipment. As a Welder I, you will be responsible for welding components used to build our equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and other documents to understand welding requirements.
  • Set up fixtures, mount parts, and perform mechanical assembly using hand and air tools.
  • Operate MIG welding equipment to weld machine components.
  • Inspect and test weldments to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Use a computer to check inventory, routing, and record transactions.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Appropriate MIG welding experience or completion of a formal welding training program.
  • Pass required entry-level plate test for production welding.
  • Basic mechanical skills, including experience with hand and air-powered tools.
  • Reading, clerical, and basic math skills.

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing plant conditions, indoors, with variable temperature, humidity, noise, and dirt.
  • Use of personal protective equipment, including welding hood, gloves, and sleeves, safety glasses, face shields, and hearing protection.
  • Physical hazards, including powered vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, moving machinery, electrical arc-welding equipment, and materials handling.
  • Working with hazardous materials, including solvents, oils, grease, and pressurized gases.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands for this job are classified as medium and include:

  • Handling items weighing over 60 pounds from floor to knuckle.
  • Handling pull or push items up to 50 pounds.
  • Handling items up to 35 pounds from knuckle to shoulder.
  • Handling items up to 25 pounds from shoulder to overhead.
  • Frequent walking, twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Continuous walking.
  • Occasional sitting and elevated work.
