Job Summary

This role is responsible for scheduling patient appointments for physicians and ancillary services, collecting patient demographics, consents, clinical, and insurance information, and maintaining communication with patients and clinical staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greets patients, answers calls, and directs patient calls to appropriate departments.
  • Collects patient demographic, consent, copay, insurance, and clinical information, and updates changes as needed.
  • Schedules new, follow-up, and immunotherapy appointments using symptoms, physician orders, and clinical information collected.
  • Communicates with clinicians to ensure accurate appointment ordering and scheduling.
  • Maintains patient communication and resolves scheduling issues.
  • Monitors patient schedules for continuity and prerequisite appointments.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of NJH clinical operations, insurance procedures, and clinical terminology and coding practices.
  • Ensures opening and closing procedures are completed daily.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs additional duties as assigned, including inbasket messages, Rightfax process, administrative functions, and medical records process.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Associates degree in business, nursing, or healthcare administration preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent and related experience in healthcare or customer service required.
