Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients and processing them for laboratory testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood samples from patients using aseptic techniques and following established protocols.
  • Process blood samples for laboratory testing, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and labeling.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of blood samples to meet laboratory testing requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and laboratory staff to ensure smooth sample collection and processing.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to biohazard waste procedures and proper storage and disposal of biohazardous materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including lab-related clerical tasks and maintaining accurate records.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Phlebotomy certification through a nationally recognized organization or training from a phlebotomy school or medical institution required.
  • One or more years of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting or CMA certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience performing phlebotomy on a broad range of patient types.
  • Experience with processing lab specimens, transferring specimens, and handling a centrifuge.
  • Familiarity with medical EMR systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
