About the Opportunity:


The Healthcare Businesswomen's Association is in search of a dedicated, innovative, and team-oriented scientist to become a vital part of our Biological Chemistry (BC) team. This role is centered on the hands-on exploration and development of pioneering cancer therapies.

Our focus lies in early-stage drug discovery, where we aim to comprehend and leverage the molecular dynamics of novel cancer targets to facilitate the discovery, characterization, and enhancement of small molecule therapeutics.


Key Responsibilities:


- Design, develop, and refine biochemical and biophysical assays utilizing various detection methodologies to identify and characterize cancer targets and small molecule modulators.
- Measure binding affinity and kinetics, while elucidating the binding modes of ligands to target proteins.
- Explore and implement cutting-edge technologies and innovative assay strategies to propel drug discovery initiatives.
- Collaborate with medicinal chemistry teams to assess compound structure-activity relationships (SAR) and modes of action.
- Engage in open communication and collaboration with a diverse team of interdisciplinary scientists to challenge existing paradigms and advance scientific understanding.


Essential Qualifications:


- This role is based in Cambridge, MA and does not offer remote work options.
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Enzymology, or a related discipline, accompanied by at least 1 year of relevant laboratory research experience, or a master’s degree with up to 1 year of pertinent experience.
- A solid grasp of protein functionality and enzymatic mechanisms, with experience in developing biochemical and/or biophysical assays for protein targets and small molecule inhibitors.
- Strong technical skills at the laboratory bench, a keen desire to learn, and a readiness to tackle complex scientific challenges.
- Proven experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Familiarity with one or more of the following assay techniques: fluorescence-based assays (e.g., HTRF, FP, or quench assays) and label-free technologies (e.g., SPR, ITC, DSF, or mass spectrometry).

- Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and present data clearly and concisely.
- Excellent team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.


Desirable Qualifications:
- Practical experience with automation to facilitate medium to high throughput assays.

Compensation:
Salary range: $66,000 - $99,000
