Transforming Drug Discovery with Flagship Pioneering

Flagship Pioneering is a biotechnology company that invents and builds platform companies, each with the potential for multiple products that transform human health or sustainability. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Principal Scientist with a proven track record of Early discovery and characterization of novel biologics to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct impactful research and experiments for Discovery biology and advance the platform
  • Influence the direction of scientific function and guide Prologue's research strategy
  • Design innovative screening assays promoting collaboration across scientific disciplines
  • Apply advanced scientific analytical expertise and judgement to solve complex issues
  • Stay scientifically current and contribute to the implementation of new technologies and advanced screening strategies
  • Interface with the computational team to formulate strategy for target and hit identification
  • Determine the feasibility of applying advanced scientific principles and techniques to scientific programs while ensuring alignment with company objectives
  • Provide strategic leadership to target selection and validation and propose novel screening strategies for complex and unique scientific outcomes
  • Maintain a strong sense of teamwork and mentor colleagues on the development and execution of biologics screening experiments
Qualifications:
  • PhD in Immunology or a related discipline with a minimum of 12+ years relevant experience in industry required
  • Prior experience in development of standard assays such as ELISA, cell-based reporter and pharmacological assays for biologic drugs is required
  • Extensive experience in designing robust screening strategies which include statistical assay design, such as leveraging principles of Design of Experiment (DoE)
  • Evidence of creativity in establishing assays across a variety of biologic mechanisms
  • Proven success in project management and team leadership
  • Previous management experience/developing employees
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, documentation and technical writing skills
