Family Services Coordinator

The Family Services Coordinator - Center (FSC) is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing the Family and Community Partnership service area. This role involves developing and implementing Individualized Family Partnership agreements with parents, conducting visits to the homes of the families, and providing direct services to families.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and facilitate meetings and training sessions with parents.
- Conduct home visits to each enrolled family.
- Develop individualized plans with families, including short- and long-term goals and methods of reaching the goals.
- Participate in community boards, councils, advisory groups, and other events representing the agency.
- Provide training to parent representatives.
- Attend grantee pre-service training and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Maintain family files and other records of activities to promote family partnerships.
- Attend all center biweekly staffing and staff meetings.
- Identify community resources and services for families served by the Pre-school, establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with them.
- Advocate for Head Start families and promote their ability to advocate for themselves.
- Ensure the delivery of social services, emergency and non-emergency services, directly or through referrals.
- Develop and update the Community Resources Directory.
- Respond to and follow-up on three-day absences of children.
- Submit accurate, timely reports as requested by Senior FSC, Director of Early LIFE Center, or LSSNY.
- Ensure absolute confidentiality with respect to information records concerning families and children.
- Perform ongoing recruitment and accurately document recruitment work.
- Represent Lutheran Social Service of New York's mission, values, ethics, and uphold agency Code of Conduct at all times.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field.
- One year working with children and families in social service or educational setting.
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to be an active and involved member of the school program.
- Strong time management skills; able to handle multiple tasks and assignments at once.
- Flexible, available to work some holidays and weekends.
- Proficient with E-mail, Microsoft Word, and internet navigation.
