Job Title: Surgery Scheduler

Community Health Centers of the Central Coast is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler to join our team.

Job Summary

The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for scheduling surgeries for women's health in a timely and efficient manner. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule surgeries and planned C-sections for women's health sites
  • Obtain physician orders for all surgeries and deliveries
  • Educate patients and assist in obtaining patient consent for procedures
  • Obtain authorization for procedure from payer
  • Coordinate with purchasing for supplies needed for procedures
  • Create pre-op and post-op packages and education for patients pertaining to the procedure
  • Schedule health education visits for patients
  • Schedule pre and post-operative appointments for the patients
  • Coordinate MD assists and proctors for procedures
  • Compile and send records to outside facilities
  • Collect post procedure documents from providers, and hand off for billing
  • Obtain and manage deliveries at associated hospitals
  • Document in EHR all post-partum pregnancies for OB's
  • Act as a liaison between outside surgery facilities and providers
  • Prepare prenatal flowsheets for patients 28 and 37 weeks, deliver to hospital, and file on a weekly basis
  • Monitor and assess reports on online server including all pregnancies, EDC list, and OB transfer
  • Obtain all lab, pathology, operative reports, ER reports, H&P's, and discharge reports from hospital
  • Complete and track MFM referrals for all patients
  • Document appropriately in EHR all correspondence with patients
  • Comply with all JCAHO standards
  • Ensure the integrity and standardization of medical records, that they are retained, protected, retrieved, transferred, and disposed according to CHC policies, local, state and federal guidelines
  • Demonstrate adherence to and observes all safety policies and procedures, including infection control rules and regulations
  • Demonstrate the knowledge of domestic violence, child, and dependent abuse protocols
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and competence
  • Maintain and adheres to HIPAA, employee confidentiality, and privileged communications (patient, employee, and corporation)
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • CPSP provider certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes preferred
  • Experience in appointment scheduling and customer service preferred
