Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, the Unit Technician is responsible for performing both direct and indirect patient care tasks, as well as handling transportation and various administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, document, and communicate any changes in patient status, including vital signs, respiratory function, discomfort levels, fluid intake and output, weight fluctuations, and signs of bleeding.
- Assist in preparing patients for transport, which includes moving them between beds, stretchers, or wheelchairs. Responsible for transporting patients along with their belongings, blood products, medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and specimens to designated areas.
- Address patient inquiries; provide appropriate responses or refer them to the right resources. Respond to patient call lights, assess the nature of the issue, and act within the scope of practice or seek necessary assistance.
- Support Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals with wound care and patient procedures as directed.
- Demonstrate accountability by adhering to attendance, punctuality, and overall reliability standards. Ensure effective performance and timely completion of all assigned tasks, aligning with organizational policies, objectives, and values.
- Fulfill the responsibilities associated with this role in support of the organization.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
