This position is responsible for assisting certified aquatic instructors during swim lessons at the YMCA of Greater Boston. The Swim Aide will work under the supervision of the Aquatics Director and will be responsible for ensuring a clean and safe pool environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist aquatic instructors during swim classes, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
- Prepare for classes by having all necessary equipment available and ready prior to the start of the lesson.
- Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals at all times.
- Ensure the pool area is clean and safe for participants, including setting up and breaking down equipment as needed.
- Engage with members to build relationships, understand their goals and interests, and take the initiative to assist in achieving those goals.
- Attend mandatory monthly in-service training and twice-per-year association trainings to stay up-to-date on YMCA policies and procedures.
- May be required to work one-on-one with individual students during group classes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director or other management staff.
- Must be at least 15 years old and no older than 15 years and 11 months.
- No prior experience is necessary.
- Must be physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff.
- May be required to be in the pool for extended periods of time.
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
