Overview

The ideal candidate for this role is driven, disciplined, and capable of working autonomously. Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills are essential.

The selected individual will undertake a range of engineering tasks, including but not limited to, initial project planning, design phases, and construction support for substation initiatives.

This role requires managing the civil and structural components of substation projects with minimal supervision. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities


Act as the structural engineering lead, accountable for the delivery of structural engineering scope, budget, and timeline, as part of a multidisciplinary team executing intricate engineering projects for clients in the utility, renewable energy, and oil & gas sectors.

Coordinate resource requirements to meet client timelines with the management team.
Conduct structural engineering calculations and review engineering calculations and drawings.
May oversee multiple projects concurrently.
Prepare proposals and cost estimates for various initiatives.
Assist in project management tasks, including budgeting, scheduling, and client relations.
Serve as the Engineer of Record for assigned projects.

Qualifications


A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution is required.

At least 5 years of structural engineering experience within the utility sector.

Professional Engineer registration is preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong ability to collaborate in teams.
Capability to apply analytical or scientific reasoning to identify and resolve issues, and to execute both field and office tasks.
Proficiency in Risa3D, RisaFoundation, MathCad, Mat3D, SAP2000, STAAD, AutoCAD, LPile, Microsoft Office, Excel, etc.
Comprehensive knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ACI, AISC, ASCE, ASTM, ANSI, API, IBC, OSHA, PIP, etc.).
Ability to make independent decisions.
Strong attention to detail.
Skills in planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks.
Ability to identify and develop solutions to complex challenges or seek guidance from more experienced engineers.
Experience leading small to medium-sized Civil/Structural engineering design teams.
