Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Research Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our Sponsored Projects Administration department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional support to principal investigators and research teams in the submission and administration of sponsored research proposals and awards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct pre-award sponsored research activities, including proposal development and submission, and award administration.
  • Provide assistance to principal investigators and research teams in tasks related to proposal submission and award administration.
  • Partner with Research Administrators to interpret sponsor regulations and University policies, and serve as a primary information resource for college research administration procedures.
  • Develop and lead training initiatives for research teams and principal investigators.
  • Manage electronic research administration systems, track proposal plans and deadlines, and communicate with sponsors and research teams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Working knowledge of contracts and grants transactions, financial systems, and related policy requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member, research and resolve problems, meet deadlines, and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
  • Strong organization and communication skills, with a customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
  • 3 years of demonstrated experience in research contract and grant management.
  • Certified Research Administration (CRA) designation.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $62,000 - $70,000, a 4-month probationary period, and eligibility for full-time telework in accordance with the university telecommuting policy. This is a bargaining unit position, and the successful candidate will be required to join the UVMSU union.
