Job Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor is a critical role within Darling Ingredients, responsible for overseeing the maintenance of rendering process equipment and ensuring the overall sanitation and integrity of plant facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair process machinery and hydraulic equipment to minimize downtime and optimize production.
  • Perform electrical work, including changing breakers and starters, and operate voltage, amp, and ohm meters to ensure equipment is functioning within safe parameters.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all plant equipment to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the maintenance crew, ensuring daily activities and duties are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Train and develop Level 1 and Level 2 maintenance personnel to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Manage plant maintenance activities in Maintenance Connection (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Ensure all Company safety procedures and safe operating standards are followed by plant personnel, in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Manage daily inventory of supplies and parts, ensuring timely replacements and minimizing waste.
  • Attend regularly scheduled safety meetings and participate in the Safety Committee to contribute to a culture of safety and excellence.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory role, overseeing plant personnel in an industrial setting or a combination of both.
  • Proficient in basic welding and fabrication skills, with demonstrated proficiency in maintenance with industrial equipment.
  • High School Diploma or GED, with vocational school training or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical, mechanical, and welding procedures, with prior rendering experience and advanced welding skills a plus.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good math skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Physical Demands
  • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch, with occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds.
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, climb steps and ladders, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out in the plant, which requires tolerance for wet and/or slippery floors, and high heat and/or cold temperatures.
