Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for performing and supervising plant maintenance of rendering process equipment; ensures that equipment and buildings are sanitary and in good repair with a direct report to the Maintenance Manager.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Troubleshoots and repairs process machinery and hydraulic equipment. Changes electrical breakers and electrical starters; operates voltage, amp, and ohm meters. Follows preventative maintenance schedule on all plant equipment. Provides direction and leadership for the maintenance crew and daily activities and duties. Trains Level 1 and Level 2 Maintenance personnel. Helps manage plant maintenance activities in Maintenance Connection (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Responsible for ensuring all Company safety procedures and safe operating standards are followed by plant personnel, in accordance with OSHA. Responsible for cleanliness of equipment and regularly scheduled safety inspections. Manage daily inventory of supplies and parts, ensuring replacements are ordered in a timely fashion. Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and may be asked to serve on Safety Committee. All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of experience in supervisory position / overseeing plant personnel in an industrial setting or in combination. Proficient in basic welding and fabrication skills. Demonstrated proficiency in maintenance with industrial equipment and/or combination of vocational training.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficient in the use of computerized Maintenance Management Systems Experience with Maintenance Connection Software High School Diploma or GED. Knowledge of industrial electrical, mechanical, and welding procedures. Prior rendering experience preferred. Advanced welding experience/skills preferred. Vocational school training preferred. Good communication skills both oral and written. Excellent problem-solving skills. Team player; works well with others. Detail oriented; well organized. Good math skills.

Physical Demands

Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch. Frequently must push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs. Occasionally required to push, pull, or move up to 100 lbs. Regularly required reach with hands and arms, climb steps and ladders.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out in the plant which requires tolerance for wet and/or slippery floors, and high heat and/or cold temperatures.
