Job Summary

The Department of Dermatology at the University of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Manager to oversee the daily operations of our laboratory. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of laboratory operations, including ordering reagents and materials, maintaining regulatory compliance, and implementing lab policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage laboratory operations, including ordering reagents and supplies, and ensuring all equipment is in good working condition.
  • Ensure lab personnel maintain current knowledge of lab techniques, procedures, and equipment operation.
  • Train new employees on Standard Operating Procedures and equipment-specific requirements.
  • Order mice and assist with mouse colony maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field or Bachelor's degree with additional experience.
  • Four years of experience in a lab technical and supervisory role (Master's degree) or six years of experience in a lab technical and/or supervisory role (Bachelor's degree).
  • Medical Laboratory Technician certification preferred.
