The Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible for supervising designated Pharmacy department personnel and ensuring the efficient operation of the pharmacy. This includes filling and labeling prescriptions, providing drug-related information to inpatients and outpatients, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and manage the activities of all department employees in consultation with the department director.
- Fills/labels prescriptions, providing drug-related information to inpatients and outpatients according to the needs/age of the patient/patient population being served.
- Dispenses controlled substances and supplies to nursing departments; conducts inventory and maintains appropriate inventory records; maintains the scheduling and preparation of IV solutions and additives.
- Maintains medication profiles and reviews for drug-related problems.
- Represents the department at organization meetings as requested by the director.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Pharmacy.
- Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
- Pharmacy Sterile Product certification through an in-house program or other accredited program required.
- Five (5) years of pharmacy experience required, two (2) of which as a hospital pharmacist.
- Previous pharmacy management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of unit dose and IV additives required.
- Previous pharmacy management experience.
- Knowledge of pharmacy and hospital computer systems and computer-assisted devices.
- Familiarity with health care reimbursement environment.
The Pharmacy Operations Manager will work in a fast-paced hospital environment, interacting with healthcare personnel and patients. The ability to work effectively in a team environment and provide excellent customer service is essential.
