Job Title: Web Design Manager

Geosyntec Consultants is seeking a skilled Web Design Manager to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the development of our company's websites, ensuring they meet both user expectations and business objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in web design, with experience in leading and overseeing web design teams. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining design documentation, guidelines, and best practices. Additionally, you will work closely with developers, content creators, and marketing teams to ensure that design elements align with broader business goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead website design projects, ensuring they align with brand guidelines and user experience best practices.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and mockups using tools like Adobe XD, Figma, or Sketch.

  • Focus on the user interface and experience, ensuring that designs are both aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate.
  • Ensure that websites are fully responsive, providing a seamless experience across devices and screen sizes.
  • Occasionally, senior designers may be involved in coding using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, especially in smaller teams.
  • Supervise junior designers, provide feedback, and ensure that all design work meets high standards of quality.
  • Work closely with developers, content creators, and marketing teams to ensure that design elements align with broader business goals.
  • Engage with internal and external clients to understand their needs and translate those into design solutions.
  • Present and justify design decisions to stakeholders.
  • Oversee multiple projects, managing timelines, deliverables, and ensuring all tasks are completed on time.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as Graphic Design, Web Design, Digital Media, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, Computer Science (with a focus on design).
  • At least 8 years of progressive professional experience in engineering, architecture, commercial construction, or marketing firms specializing in the marketing of professional services.
  • Prior experience leading and overseeing a web design team.
  • A strong design portfolio that showcases a range of projects, including web design, user interface design, and other digital media work.
  • Mastery of design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, Sketch, and prototyping tools like InVision or Adobe XD.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is highly advantageous, especially in smaller teams or projects requiring close collaboration with developers.
  • Ability to create effective presentations and respond to inquiries from internal and external clients; and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Microsoft Windows proficiency including, MS Professional (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat and Creative Suite products, and typing ability.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently to perform effectively under tight deadlines.
