We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Management Specialist to join our team at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective financial management policies and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective operation of our finance and accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement financial management policies and procedures to ensure compliance with DoD and DFAS regulations.
- Provide expert interpretation and guidance on financial management regulations and policies to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Manage the review and analysis of financial data and reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Exercise leadership and oversight of budget drills and human resource actions to ensure correct and proper execution of DoD guidance and policies.
- Coordinate and participate in the development and presentation of program training to ensure effective communication of financial management policies and procedures.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national.
- Registered for Selective Service (males born after 1959).
- Suitable for Federal employment.
- Time after Competitive Appointment: Candidates must have served 3 months after latest competitive appointment in the Federal service.
- This national security position requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment.
- Obtain/Maintain Financial Management Certification.
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized Experience is defined as: Performing in-depth analysis and evaluation of financial operations, policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure the overall effectiveness and efficiency of finance and accounting operations; recommending process improvements to financial operations; and providing high-level budget preparation, financial operations, and Human Resource staffing expertise to senior leadership to help them carry out financial missions with allocated resources.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in Federal Service.
