Job Overview:


The Patient Access Representative is responsible for the accurate registration of patients across various service lines, ensuring all necessary demographic, financial, and clinical details are collected from the patient or their representative.

Position Details:

This is a PRN (as needed) role.

Shifts may vary, including Day and Midshift hours.

As a Patient Access Representative, your responsibilities will include:
  • Registering patients and ensuring the confirmation, entry, and updating of all required demographic information in the registration system.
  • Avoiding duplicate medical records and following established procedures for patient identification.
  • Registering patients during system downtimes according to protocols and entering data promptly once systems are available.
  • Collecting and explaining insurance documentation, forms of identification, and securing necessary signatures on all required forms.
  • Verifying insurance information to determine coordination of benefits and obtaining necessary authorizations or referrals.
  • Screening for non-covered services and processing waivers of liability as required.
  • Informing self-pay patients of their financial responsibilities and coordinating with financial counseling services as needed.
  • Collecting patient payments, issuing accurate receipts, and reconciling transactions.
  • Documenting all patient account interactions and maintaining departmental work queues and reports.
  • Addressing patient billing inquiries and resolving account issues, escalating as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • At least one year of experience in a service-oriented role is preferred.
Physical Requirements:


Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. - Proficient in operating computers and office equipment. - Capable of reading computer screens and documents. - Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods. - May involve lifting and transporting office supplies.
