Cost Analysis Specialist

Hoxton Circle is collaborating with a client in the agricultural sector to recruit a Cost Analysis Specialist with robust operational expertise. This role is available through a contract-to-permanent arrangement. Candidates with experience in consumer goods manufacturing and agricultural practices are highly regarded, although applicants from other industries are also welcome.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and uphold cost accounting frameworks to guarantee precise cost distribution for products and initiatives.
- Examine production expenses, labor costs, and overheads to deliver comprehensive cost reports and variance assessments.
- Engage with operational teams, sales departments, and co-packers to oversee and manage production and procurement expenditures.
- Assist in the formulation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring adherence to accounting regulations and organizational policies.
- Prepare and scrutinize balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
- Support the Financial Accountant in generating management reports and financial summaries.
- Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting activities, supplying cost data and financial insights to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Track actual spending against budgeted amounts and communicate discrepancies to management.
- Maintain precise inventory records, perform regular inventory audits, and resolve any discrepancies.
- Evaluate inventory valuations and ensure the application of appropriate costing methodologies.
- Process and verify accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and promptness.
- Collaborate with various departments, including operations and sales, to collect essential information for accurate costing and financial reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
- CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in comprehensive accounting practices, ideally within the consumer packaged goods sector.
- At least 2 years of experience in the consumer goods industry is highly desirable.
- Strong grasp of GAAP accounting principles, cost accounting, and financial reporting standards (minimum of 3 years required).
