Position: Wound Care Nurse Practitioner

This role involves working weekdays, specifically Monday through Friday, with no on-call duties or weekend shifts.

Position Summary

The Wound Care Nurse Practitioner (WCNP) is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) with specialized expertise in the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, and management of intricate wounds. The WCNP will work in collaboration with a diverse healthcare team to deliver thorough wound care services to patients experiencing both chronic and acute wounds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed wound evaluations, which include reviewing medical history, conducting physical examinations, and utilizing diagnostic tests.
  • Create and execute personalized wound care strategies grounded in evidence-based methodologies.
  • Carry out advanced wound care techniques such as debridement, application of bioapatite dressings, negative pressure wound therapy, and hyperbaric oxygen treatment.
  • Oversee the management of chronic wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, pressure injuries, venous ulcers, and arterial ulcers.
  • Work in partnership with physicians and other healthcare professionals to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Provide education to patients and their families regarding wound care, prevention strategies, and self-management techniques.
  • Engage in quality improvement projects and participate in research initiatives.
  • Comply with all applicable legal and regulatory standards governing wound care practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Nursing with a focus on Wound Care or a related discipline.
  • WOCN Certification is mandatory.
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license in the state of New York.
  • Preferred certifications include Wound Care Certified (WCC) or Advanced Wound Care Certified (AWCC).
  • Strong skills in clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proven experience in educating patients and their caregivers.
  • Previous experience in wound care management is preferred.
