Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider

Roswell Park Care Network is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider to join our team at our Schenectady, NY location at Ellis. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, education, and support to our patients and their families.

Job Summary:

The Advanced Practice Provider will provide healthcare services to patients, including health promotion, cancer prevention, care for acute and chronic phases of illness, patient and family education, and counseling. This role also involves referring patients to other healthcare providers and community resources when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess patients' physical and psychological status through interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies.
  • Examine patients and order medical equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Order diagnostic tests, such as lab tests, X-rays, and CT scans, and interpret results.
  • Develop treatment plans for patients, including diagnosing diseases and selecting appropriate care plans.
  • Provide patient examinations to collect information about patients' physical condition.
  • Supervise and coordinate the duties of procedural assistants.
  • Administer injections, shots, and immunizations, as well as provide wound care.
  • Recognize deviations from normal in physical assessment and work with physicians to formulate treatment plans.
  • Prescribe medication to patients under the supervision of a licensed doctor.
  • Interpret and evaluate findings from diagnostic studies.
  • Implement therapeutic plans consistent with patients' continuing care needs.
  • Document patient history, admission notes, care plans, progress notes, discharge notes, and follow-up letters.
  • Consider patients' physical, emotional, social, and economic status, as well as cultural and educational backgrounds, when providing care.
  • Ensure departmental and interdepartmental policies, procedures, and standards of care are maintained and interpreted to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Inform supervisors and/or the nurse supervisor of actual/potential problems requiring resolution at the administrative level.
Requirements:
  • Licensure to practice as a registered Nurse in the State of New York.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner Certification in New York.
  • Certification or eligibility for certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or other national certifying body recognized by the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA).
  • As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or other national certifying body recognized by the HCFA within nine (9) months of their appointment to this title as required by Medicare.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant studies.
  • Completion of a Physician Assistant Certification Program recognized by the New York State Education Department.
  • Physician Assistant Certification to Practice in New York State.
