OBJECTIVE:

The Systems Test Engineer collaborates with the Engineering team, leadership, and Program Management to grasp the design, characterization, and verification requirements. This role involves designing and developing automated data-acquisition and testing systems utilizing LabView, as well as creating comprehensive characterization and qualification test plans and procedures, while managing or executing tests.

The individual will be responsible for identifying and developing tailored test systems and leading various testing and characterization initiatives. Collaboration with internal stakeholders, government sponsors, and subject matter experts is essential, along with the preparation of detailed test reports.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Requirements and Verification:

Understand the product performance specifications and associated documentation. Collaborate closely with systems and design engineers to comprehend requirements and their verification at both system and component levels.

Test System Development:

Design and develop custom test systems and fixtures using LabView. Ensure equipment availability for testing events by identifying and sourcing necessary tools. Work with the development team to understand the objectives of the test systems.

Test Planning:

Create detailed test plans based on established requirements and verification methodologies. Ensure comprehensive test coverage that addresses defined performance parameters and operating conditions. Collaborate with the development team to ensure product readiness for testing.

Test Reporting:

Analyze and interpret test data using appropriate mathematical and statistical methods. Document non-test activities, including analyses and inspections. Prepare clear and concise engineering reports to summarize component and product test outcomes. Compile verification analyses and test reports into comprehensive qualification test reports.

Configuration Management:

Maintain thorough records of test system configurations, both software and hardware. Keep detailed logs of product configurations tested. Collaborate with the development team to understand the implications of proposed changes.

Leadership:

Lead and manage internal testing efforts. Assist in developing basis of estimates to define scope, hours, and scheduling. Support engineers by reviewing internally generated test reports and adhering to established project schedules.


QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Required:
B.S. in Electrical, Biomedical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering

Preferred:
M.S. in Electrical, Biomedical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on engineering experience or equivalent academic work.
  • Proficient in designing and developing software-controlled data-acquisition and test systems using LabView.
  • Experience in writing test plans, procedures, and managing internal testing activities.
  • Familiarity with characterizing components or subsystems to determine performance parameters.
  • Skills in data visualization and presenting complex datasets.
  • Knowledge of software-controlled test systems, electrical systems, and mechanical systems.
  • Understanding of military specifications and quality management standards.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to develop specifications for LabView-based systems.
  • Competence in interpreting engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Understanding of product requirements and their connection to test cases.
  • Capability to perform non-test activities such as data analysis and inspections.
  • Strong knowledge of power integrity and signal integrity principles.
  • Proficiency with laboratory instruments and software applications.
  • Excellent writing skills for preparing clear documentation.
  • Detail-oriented in planning and reporting.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Project management skills to oversee design and qualification activities.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a diverse team environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment, with occasional tasks in varying conditions.


TRAVEL:
Limited travel may be required.

SALARY:
$80,000 - $95,000
