Position Overview

As the Manager of the Central Business Office (CBO) Collections and Follow-Up Revenue Cycle, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the comprehensive management of hospital insurance follow-up and denial management processes. This position requires collaboration with the revenue cycle team to establish departmental objectives, assess process efficiency, and identify areas for policy enhancement.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily operations related to insurance follow-up and denial management.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental and organizational policies and standards.
  • Monitor the status of unpaid and denied accounts, as well as accounts pending additional information.
  • Utilize internal tracking systems to generate reports and educate staff on effective follow-up and appeal strategies.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members through a structured educational plan to meet quality and productivity benchmarks.
  • Compile documentation regarding insurance follow-up and denials for committee discussions and regular updates with revenue cycle leadership.
  • Engage with various revenue-generating departments to address root causes of payment delays and denials, offering solutions to prevent future issues.
  • Act as the primary contact between the organization and external vendors involved in insurance follow-up and denial management.
  • Identify and resolve inefficiencies related to payment delays or denials.
  • Assist in providing relevant payment and denial information for contract negotiations with payor organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, organizational policies, and accreditation requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, along with 5 years of experience in healthcare billing, collections, payment processing, or denial management, and 3 years of management experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in basic computer skills and system-level training.
  • Ability to analyze system reports and assess the impact of potential changes.
  • In-depth understanding of hospital and professional billing processes, reimbursement strategies, and regulations related to denials and appeals.
  • Strong initiative in identifying problems and implementing effective solutions.
  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, and customer service capabilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with various computer systems.
