Position Overview:

SUMMARY OF ROLE
This role involves the operation and upkeep of all mechanical and electrical systems.

Responsibilities may include welding, brazing, and repairs to refrigeration, plumbing, air conditioning, laundry, and kitchen equipment, as well as managing electronic record-keeping systems, CMMS, sound equipment, and more.

You will also perform various maintenance tasks to ensure the property remains in optimal condition, prioritizing the safety and comfort of both guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

PRIMARY DUTIES


The Mechanical and Electrical Technician is tasked with maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems, including minor installations of equipment up to 5 tons.

Conduct inspections and maintenance on all mechanical and electrical components of the facility.

This includes HVAC units, RTUs, AHUs, VAVs, ADOS, VRF, Split Systems, BAS and BMS, Thermostats, Cooling Towers, Chillers, Heat Exchangers, Pumps, Controls, Boilers, Electric Panels, Lighting and Related Controls, Heaters, Actuated and Manual Valves, Dehumidifiers, Kitchen Equipment, Walk-In Coolers and Freezers, Refrigeration Units, Dishwashers, and any other equipment as directed.

Collaborate with the Director of Engineering and other department leaders to address maintenance requests, implement cleaning programs, or respond to emergencies or equipment failures that may disrupt hotel operations.

Maintain accurate logs for property equipment, including refrigeration tracking logs as mandated by EPA regulations and internal Engineering SOPs.

Complete tasks in alignment with SOPs for the Preventive Maintenance Program in designated areas. Ensure a tidy and organized mechanical shop environment. Assist with other general departmental tasks as required.

Maintain sufficient inventory of parts and materials necessary for work orders, scheduled repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks.

Coordinate with other Engineering staff and departments to access rooms and back-of-house areas for repairs.

Complete assigned work orders and adhere to the preventive maintenance program as per SOPs. Manage vendor work orders and facilitate their access. Oversee vendor hours and workload. Report all vendor-related issues and work completion to the Director of Engineering. Advise the Director of Engineering on potentially hazardous situations or imminent equipment failures. Complete any additional tasks assigned by the Director of Engineering.

Skills and Qualifications:
Fluency in English is essential, as all manuals, operating procedures, and safety advisories are primarily communicated in this language. An EPA 608 Universal Certification is required, along with a completion certificate from a technical or trade school in HVAC, Electrical, or Boiler trades; a graduate diploma from a technical school, and a minimum of 3 years of experience in the aforementioned fields or a combination of education and experience, with no less than 1.5 years of field experience. A positive attitude, reliability, and teamwork skills are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:
The ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and make informed decisions regarding equipment repairs is necessary. A safety-conscious mindset and the ability to work with minimal supervision are crucial. Self-motivation and a strong sense of integrity are highly valued.

Experience:
A minimum of 3 years in the specified trades is required. Experience in 4- or 5-star hotel properties is preferred but not mandatory.

Technical Skills:
Proficiency in computer usage is necessary, including communication via email, utilizing CMMS, and electronic inspection logs, as well as operating electronic control and communication devices.

Education:
A Trade School diploma or an accredited equivalent is required.

Working Conditions:
Work primarily occurs during morning shifts, but flexibility for afternoon or overnight shifts may be required. The role involves working in various conditions, including outdoors, confined spaces, and at heights. The ability to routinely lift and handle weights between 50-75 lbs is essential.

The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision is preferred. Ideal candidates will demonstrate self-motivation, discipline, and strong analytical skills, along with sound decision-making abilities and confidence.
