Job Summary

The Occupational Safety and Health Specialist will provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Environmental Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) Program. This professional will oversee safety or occupational health program elements, including fall protection, electrical safety, confined space, and hazardous materials.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze jobs, processes, products, or other systems to determine risks to employees.
  • Perform complex technical hazard assessments involving the evaluation and analysis of laboratory data to develop hazard control options for asbestos exposures, mold growth, drinking water exceedances, confined spaces, or other similar health hazards.
  • Conduct workplace environmental/safety inspections and develop abatement plans to control identified hazards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in identifying and evaluating personal protective equipment needs (fall-protection, electrical, and hazardous materials).
  • Identify and evaluate safety training needs in the areas identified above.
  • Review project designs and identify safety concerns regarding asbestos, fall protection, electrical safety, and other work hazards.
  • Develop scopes of work for contract resources required to implement specific aspects of EOSH program operations with overall authority and responsibility for compliance with federal, state, and local Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety with 2+ years of prior relevant experience or a Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety with relevant experience.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass FAA security screening for positions of public trust.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for collaboration, teamwork, and risk management.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form to individuals at different organizational levels.
  • Strong writing, time-management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently within a fast-paced, large engineering organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with different schedules and requirements.
