The Principal Engineer is a vital position responsible for the oversight and management of the wastewater treatment facility's daily functions. This role ensures that operations align with established regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees sewage treatment operations and coordinates the collection of wastewater
  • Directs maintenance, repairs, and preventive upkeep of facility equipment
  • Monitors the operation of canal and river control systems to ensure compliance with environmental regulations
  • Leads maintenance and operational strategies, including planning and equipment upkeep
  • Reviews and authorizes maintenance documentation, reports, and work orders
  • Conducts inspections of plant equipment and facilities to ensure optimal performance and maintenance
  • Assists in the planning and execution of repairs and construction projects for plant facilities
  • Prepares technical analyses and reports to assess process viability
  • Supervises personnel, ensuring adherence to policies and conducting performance evaluations

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of wastewater engineering principles
  • Proficient in planning and supervising technical wastewater treatment operations
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of six years of professional experience in wastewater treatment
